I migliori critici ed enologi si incontrano in Spagna

For the very first time ever the most renowned wine critics and the world’s most influential wine writers will come together in WineCreator, the 1st International Meeting of Wine Creators, taking place in the Malaga town of Ronda on the 18th and 19th April. As part of events, the meeting will host tasting sessions of the wines led by the wine creators themselves.

Twenty of the most internationally renowned wine journalists will vote for the world’s twelve most outstanding wine creators. The advisory committee is made up of Jancis Robinson, Honorary President of the first meeting, Michel Bettane and the Spanish journalists Víctor de la Serna and José Peñín. In addition to the committee members, WineCreator’s Panel of Experts includes: Stephen Tanzer, David Schildknecht, John Radford, Charles Metcalfe, Robert Joseph, Joel B.Payne, Bob Campbell, Michael Fridjhon, James Halliday, Peter Moser, Eleonora Scholes, Rodolfo Gerschman, Pierre Casamayor, Joshua Greene, Bernard Burtschy and Ernesto Gentili. The selected oenologists and wine creators are Ales Kristancic, Paul Draper, Ricardo Cotarella, Álvaro Palacios, Peter Sisseck, Stephane Derenoncourt, Carlo Ferrini, Jean-Claude Berrouet, Michel Rolland, Dirk Nieeport, Denis Dubourdieu and Olivier Humbrecht.

In this setting, the journalists not only get to vote, but get the chance to talk face-to-face with the creators, allowing them in depth insight into each winemaker’s different work method, their relationship with the terroir, their personal viticulture, the influence of biodymanics, etc.

In the words of José Peñín, one of the Meeting’s promoters together with the La Melonera Group, the project springs from “the idea of placing the emphasis on the wine creators themselves, exploring their creative, professional and even human dimensions in the spirit of making the most of nature's resources, with the vineyards and their geological and climatic settings playing a key role. It is intended to be a meeting with professionals who can propose other quality options, far removed from the commercial pressures of safe, accommodating styles”.

The event will be held every second year in different countries around the world and will include organised tastings of wines from the oenological world’s crème de la crème
