After an exhaustive search,
the city of Ronda was chosen as representative
of the philosophy behind this event.
Located in the province of Malaga in southern
Spain, Ronda has a long winemaking tradition.
Its ties with wine go back to Roman times, as
evidenced by coins from a nearby city called Acinipo
depicting two wheat ears and a bunch of grapes,
according to the chronicles of Pliny (fourth century
B.C.). Today, Ronda boasts a Wine Route with over
fifteen wineries and
some of the best red wines in Andalusia.
This Mediterranean city,
the heart of an Andalusia with a little-known
but long-standing wine tradition, will thus become
the world capital of the “haute couture”
of wine creation, regarded as an artform. The
latest advances in winemaking will be presented,
especially those relating to respect for the environment,
harking back to the experiences of the past.
The
city of Ronda is located at only 50 minutes from
Malaga and at 30 minutes from Marbella.
Malaga counts on an international airport, with
connections to main Spanish and European cities,
and a train station with a high speed train service
(AVE), recently inaugurated, which connects Madrid
to Málaga in only 2:30 hours.
Ronda has a direct access by train from Madrid in 4 hours.
